While in law school he received the American Jurisprudence Award for his academic excellence in Conflicts of Laws and Professional Responsibility. Professional affiliations include: the American Association for Justice, Oklahoma Bar Association, the William J. Holloway, Jr. American Inn of Court, and the Oklahoma Association for Justice. Mr. Atkins is admitted to practice in all state and Federal Court Districts in Oklahoma. He earned the distinction of being an Oklahoma Super Lawyer from 2008 to present.
Mr. Atkins has been litigating personal injury, pharmaceutical, trucking, nursing home, product liability, premises liability, and medical malpractice cases for 26 years. He has been named Oklahoma Super Lawyer every year since 2008 and named ATLA top 100 trial lawyer since 2010. He has been rated by his peers as AV Preeminent, the highest possible level under the Martindale Hubbell peer review system. He has represented thousands of clients resulting in total recoveries of approximately $100 million. He has lectured nationally on premises liability cases and has one of the highest slip and fall verdicts in state history.
In addition to representing plaintiffs, Mr. Atkins also represents automobile dealers and the Oklahoma Automobile Dealers Association on corporate and regulatory matters.
Outside of his law practice, Mr. Atkins is very active with his family and community. He currently serves on the Board of Trustees for The University of Central Oklahoma Foundation and K-Life OKC. He is also involved with Hope House, March of Dimes, The Oklahoma Alzheimer’s Association, and has previously held board positions with Infant Crisis Services and his neighborhood property owners’ association.
Mr. Atkins and his wife have been married for 25 years and have 2 children. Mr. Atkins loves to travel with his family and is still an avid golfer.
