Concrete Truck Accident Claims Life of Oklahoma Woman

A tragic accident involving an overturned concrete truck took the life of an Oklahoma woman, who was reportedly on the way to visit her mother in the hospital on Wednesday. The Oklahoma trucking accident occurred at the intersection of Northwest 38th Street and Gore Boulevard, and resulted in the death of 48-year-old Angie Werner, who was driving a silver Honda when the accident happened. According to preliminary interviews and evidence, Lawton police Captain Craig Akard says it appears Werner was stopped in the left turn lane on 38th Street when the cement truck turned the corner from Gore to head north on 38th Street. The load in the cement truck apparently shifted and the truck toppled over onto its side, directly on top of Werner’s vehicle. FATAL OKLAHOMA TRUCKING ACCIDENT

According to Akard, the cement truck was hauling about six cubic yards of mixed concrete. Including its load, the cement truck was estimated to have weighed about 60,000 pounds at the time of the Oklahoma trucking accident. The truck was so heavy in fact, that no local wreckers could handle the load; police were forced to call an Oklahoma City company equipped with a crane to assist with the cleanup of the accident. In the aftermath of the fatal accident, the driver of the cement truck was transported to a local hospital for evaluation and to provide a blood sample to be analyzed for intoxicants, which is standard protocol for accidents that result in fatality.
