Experience
Dan’s real education came in the criminal defense trenches. After law school, Dan was a trial attorney with the Oklahoma Indigent Defense System in rural Oklahoma, and after that, a trial attorney with the Tulsa County Public Defender. Dan’s very first jury trial was a double manslaughter which he tried solo because the public defender’s office did not have the resources to staff a second attorney. In a short period of time Dan represented hundreds and hundreds of clients in numerous counties across Oklahoma charged with a wide range of crimes, from simple misdemeanors to murder. Dan’s work with OIDS and the Tulsa County PD provided an opportunity to learn, practice, and innovate. Dan quickly gained a reputation as a dedicated advocate and defender who didn’t shy away from a fight.
Dan brought that experience to Adler Markoff & Associates in 2016. At AMA, Dan continues to study and innovate with the goal of helping his clients. Outside of traditional courtroom criminal defense work, Dan represents many clients who have not yet been charged with crimes, and frequently prevents them from getting charged in the first place. As the leader of the firm’s pardon and expungement practice, Dan loves giving clients the best news—that their record is now clean and they can finally move on with their life. Dan is also one of the State’s most prominent attorneys fighting to save client’s driver’s licenses after a DUI.
