A recent Oklahoma car accident caused the death of a 39-year-old man, when an SUV rear-ended his motorcycle on Oklahoma 48, north of Oklahoma 33 in Creek County. According to the news report, the motorcyclist slowed down in order to turn left into a private driveway when an SUV slammed into the back of his motorcycle. The cause of the OK car accident is still under investigation, but the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision. Motorcycle accidents are some of the most devastating collisions in Oklahoma, due in large part to the small stature of motorcycles, when compared to passenger cars, SUVs and trucks. Unfortunately, Oklahoma motorcycle accidents are relatively common, often occurring when another driver fails to practice safe driving behavior. COMMON CAUSES OF OKLAHOMA REAR-END COLLISIONS
Rear-end collisions are one of the most common types of car accidents in the United States, mostly because so many drivers tailgate or follow too closely behind another vehicle in a rush to get to work, a meeting, a date, or another type of engagement. When doing so though, drivers of SUVs, passenger cars and trucks are often unable to react to brake lights quickly enough, especially when the vehicle in front of them is a motorcycle with a smaller profile than a typical car. In other instances of rear-end car accidents, the at-fault driver may be speeding, driving recklessly, driving distracted, or driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, in which case he or she may be unable to slow down or stop in time to prevent a rear-end collision from occurring. Drivers who don’t devote all of their attention to the road may easily overlook a motorcycle or another small vehicle that has slowed down ahead, increasing the risk of a serious rear-end car accident.
