former student at Oklahoma State University (OSU) who was arrested on suspicion of having small baggies of cocaine in his dorm room pleaded not guilty to the drug charges on March 13. According to court documents, 19-year-old Cord Moore is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a dangerous controlled drug with intent to distribute within 2,000 feet of a university. If the teen is convicted of the two drug charges, he could face significant jail time and other penalties under Oklahoma drug laws. PENALTIES FOR DRUG CRIMES IN OK
According to the affidavit, OSU police officers contacted Moore in his dorm room early on the morning of February 10, following a complaint made about a drug violation. Moore allowed the officer to search his room, where the officer reportedly found 30 grams of marijuana, $1,400, multiple small bags of cocaine, and an empty bottle of hydrocodone cough syrup with the prescription label burned off. Moore has been in custody for more than a month on a $15,000 bond, and is set to appear in court next on April 1. Moore pleaded guilty and received a deferred sentence last July for charges including possession of marijuana and obstructing an officer. If the Oklahoma teen is found guilty of the latest drug charges, he could spend more than ten years in jail and pay up to $200,000 in fines, according to Oklahoma law.
