The Oklahoma Highway Patrol responded to a major car accident involving three vehicles around 8 a.m. at the intersection of Highways 83 and 59 in Leflore County. Authorities reported that the driver of one of the vehicles failed to yield properly, causing a three-car pileup involving a semi-truck that was carrying fuel. The driver of the first car to be struck was airlifted to a Tulsa hospital and is currently in critical condition with injuries to her upper torso. The man who failed to yield at the intersection was listed as “sleepy” at the time of the accident, and the official cause of the crash was listed as failure to yield.
