A car accident that occurred on State Highway 9 on February 12, sent three people to the hospital with serious injuries resulting from one motorist’s reckless driving. SERIOUS INJURIES RESULTING FROM THREE-CAR WRECK
According to a report compiled by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP), Kyle McCafferty, 30, was driving west on State Highway 9 at around 11:50 a.m. on February 12, when his vehicle crossed the center line and struck two vehicles traveling east. Joe Mitchell, 81, was driving on Highway 9 with passenger Michael Mitchell, 54, when his vehicle was struck by McCafferty’s, and David Deweese was eastbound on Highway 9 when McCafferty’s car collided with his. McCafferty was transported to the McAlester Regional Health Center, where he was listed in stable condition with multiple injuries. Mitchell was also transported to MRHC, where he was listed in stable condition with head and internal trunk injuries. Deweese was transported to St. Johns Hospital in Tulsa and is currently listed in serious condition with a head injury. Mitchell refused treatment at the scene of the accident.

The collision occurred less than a half mile west of State Highway 9A, the OHP report indicated. The accident was investigated by OHP Trooper Shane Hackler, of the Pittsburg County detachment.
