An accident involving a train and a pedestrian may seem like it would be a rare occurrence, but that is not the case in Oklahoma. In fact, in Norman, Oklahoma alone, there have been four train/pedestrian accidents since July 9, including the most recent on September 8, three of which resulted in fatalities. Last Saturday, an Oklahoma City woman identified as 34-year-old Susie Mae Cunningham was killed when she was struck by a train on the Main Street and Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway tracks. Oklahoma train accidents involving pedestrians are not uncommon, and they typically result in the death of the pedestrian due to the sheer size and weight of a train.
